Construction company has secured a turnkey contract from Skebo to build 219 rental apartments in the Anderstorp district of Skellefteå in Sweden.

The contract is valued at approximately Skr320m ($29.21m) and will include a mix of tower blocks, low-rise buildings, and row houses.

Skebo CEO Helena Markgren said: “Demand remains strong for new rental apartments in central locations in Skellefteå. It is therefore gratifying that we can soon add new apartments in a central location and it will be one of Skebo’s largest ever projects. We look forward to turning the first sod.”

The development will be constructed on Elevhemsgatan, near Anderstorps gård and the Skellefteälven river.

The construction planning phase for the Skellefteå rental apartments is scheduled to begin in early 2024, with the construction work commencing later this year.

The new neighbourhood is expected to be ready for occupancy towards the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027.

NCC Building Sweden head Niklas Sparw said: “Skellefteå is currently one of Sweden’s fastest growing cities and has a substantial need for new residential units.

“We have already completed several successful construction projects on behalf of Skebo. With these new rental apartments at Anderstorpsgården, NCC will continue to expand the range of housing available in the city.”

This order will be recorded in the NCC Building Sweden business area’s books in the second quarter of this year.

Earlier this month, NCC secured a turnkey contract to modernise 210 apartments in the Mindeparken residential area of Herning, Denmark.

Awarded by municipal company FællesBo, the contract is valued at approximately Skr350m.
